DEAP

Deakin University and North Geelong Secondary College have establish a cooperative relationship in order to implement the Deakin Engagement and Access Program (DEAP) 2015 and pursue their common commitment to improving educational opportunities for young people underrepresented in tertiary education. The Deakin Engagement and Access Program (DEAP) 2015 is a coordinated program that provides NGSC with a suite of activities ranging from parental engagement at feeder Primary Schools through to Year 12 Special Entry Access Scheme and Scholarship Workshops. This suite of activities includes in-class and on campus activities and workshops as well as professional resources such as pre-service teachers and practicums developed and delivered for the school by faculty based university staff.

Deakin will provide, and NGSC will support, a suite of activities that currently include:
• Grades 5&6 parents from feeder primary schools and Years 7&8 parents: ‘Learning How to Learn Supporting Kids to Achieve’ Workshops
• Year 7 Great Uni race
• Year 8 Access Uni day
• Year 9 Deakin School News Network (DSNN) with Faculty Arts and Education
• Year 10 Deakin Experience Day
• Year 10 – 12 Deakin in your Careers Office
• Year 11 Study Skills with Division of Student Life PASS Leaders
• Year 12 Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS) and Scholarships workshop
